BREAKING NEWS: We have movement!

Right around 12:30 a.m., as she was taking a relaxing bath, my wife told me that she felt something cold along the lower right side of her belly. She said it felt like a “flutter”, making a fluttering geture with her hand through the air. Putting her hand against the spot, a slightly confused look crept accross her face. While neither of us would say it out loud, we were of course both thinking the same thing (as this was right about the time they said we’d start to feel ‘movement’). She said she couldn’t tell if it was the water or not. She said, “That’s not the baby. Is it?” All I could do was raise my eyebrows and smile, as if to say “well, why not?” She said she would get out of the tub and see if she still felt it.

After about 10 more minutes, there was no doubt it was our little blueberry, tumbling and fumbling away inside mommy’s tummy. The feeling would come and go, and it was really sporadic. We didn’t hesitate to call Mamasan and P-Daddy, and then Miema, too. We didn’t stop there either; Daddy-to-be over here even got out the – wait for it – video camera! I kept it on mommy as she spread the good news, and then had her talk about the occasion a little.

We ended the night by propping the camera up on the nightstand as Daddy read the baby it’s first bed time story, Goodnight Moon. It was an evening to remember!
